The perfect SaaS idea for you 💰 - Startups.email
Let's dig into the success story of Fernando and his product, aiCarousels. This platform has seen a remarkable amount of growth in just 30 days, going from $0 MRR to $500 MRR.
It's time to celebrate a major milestone for startups.email! This week, I added the 100th SaaS startup to the site 🎉 and the newsletter is quickly approaching 1000 subscribers.
One of the most remarkable stories I've come across recently is that of Fernando and his product, aiCarousels.com. Launched in May, the platform allows users to create social media carousels for Linkedin and Instagram. It's easy to see why this is such a great SaaS idea. Not only is the value proposition crystal clear and the target audience easily identifiable, but the market is massive and the technical requirements are minimal; the only dependency is OpenAI if you want to use auto-generated carousels. What's more, Fernando was able to get the product up and running in just 10 days!
The product's growth has been equally impressive, jumping from a meager $49 MRR in May 16th to $400 MRR in June 11th and finally breaking the $500 MRR mark on June 16th. This level of growth in just 30 days is highly unusual; according to my research, it typically takes nine months to hit $1,000 in MRR.
In conclusion, the perfect SaaS idea should check the following boxes:
✅ You can explain in simple terms what the product does
✅ You can promote your product with a single channel
✅ You can explain who your customer is and you have access to them
✅ You can build the product in less than 4 weeks
✅ You launch the product and you generate first revenue in 4 weeks
If your idea meets all of these criteria, then you should definitely invest in it, but if not, then it's time to move on and keep looking for that elusive startup treasure!
Now let's look at some other interesting numbers this week.
Fastdok ($4,900 Lifetime sales)
Fastdok is an AI writing tool launched 6 months ago by Moustaid, who sold it on Acquire for a whopping $18,000 last month. By doing so, he earned a total of $23,000 from this project. This business model of building, growing, and selling may be risky at first, but it's a valid approach to creating wealth.
Sweethelp ($12,000 MRR)
Sweethelp is an all-in-one messaging solution that recovers abandoned carts by sending texts via WhatsApp on Shopify. It has been around for about 2 years and is now making around $12,000 in monthly recurring revenue. The idea is perfect: It's easy to explain, it can be promoted through the Shopify App Store, the customers are clear, and it can be built in less than 30 days for less than $10,000. The founder can easily sell Sweethelp for a life-changing amount of $750,000 to $1 million.
Railsdevs ($4,000 MRR)
Railsdevs is a reverse job board for Rails developers. It's a list of developers who are actively looking for a job, and if a business wants to get the full details of a developer, they need to pay $299/month. Plus, if they hire someone from Railsdevs, they need to pay 10% of the first year salary, which is often a payout of ~$20,000. The founder gets developers to Railsdevs through a successful Rails newsletter. Currently, there are 956 developers on the platform in search of a job. This is another "perfect idea" that ticks all the boxes. As you can see, money-making ideas are often easy to build, understandable to everyone, and the founders can easily access potential clients.
